Creating a knowledge sharing platform

Client: Scout24
Type of work: UX/UI design, information design
Context
The clients request was to assist in implementing new technology strategy which would affect hundreds of employees.

In order to have a successful strategy adoption, it was necessary to give employees full access to information, plans, events and resources.

We chose to build an internal knowledge sharing platform which explains what this new strategy is and provides with necessary transition resources.
Challenge
How might we inform and involve employees to join and adapt new tech strategy across the whole company?
My tasks
• information design
• UX/UI design

Design process

Content first

Website design began with creating content - in this case, a slide deck. My task was to translate complex information into neat visualisations in order to bring clarity and focus.

This content was later used in the website.

Building information architecture

First, I printed out slides in order to create an information architecture. It helped me to make better decisions how to organise content and do it fast.

Designing UI

Finally, I used a design system provided by client’s design team to create UI.

Because this was an internal communication project, the design requirements were not so strict.

Therefore I was able to add new design elements which suited information design better while still matching overall brand style.

Learnings

Having all the content created prior the website design was incredibly useful and efficient. I was able to decide on the lowest number of required design elements (which saved time for developers) and not sacrifice content at the same time.

Results

The website launched in time for the Tech Strategy roll-out. Managers were able to contribute by adding their own content with the provided design system and CMS.
